Leviticus chapter 10.
Here we read of the death of Aaron's two sons because they did an unauthorized offering before the Lord. So God killed them. What were their attitude or thought process that they came to the conclusion that they didn't have to obey God's commands? Or maybe I should be asking, what is my attitude when I think I don't have to obey God? The answer is my attitude is selfish. When I get caught up with a selfish attitude, I disobey God or make decisions that hurt my relationship with God and others and end up hurting God, others and myself. How dare these two sons and how dare me to think that being unholy before God is okay!! I should have been killed long ago based on these principles. But Thank you God for grace and mercy and for giving me chances to repent and change.
They were removed from the presence of the Lord and taken outside. They were unclean or unholy. Thank God we can be reunited by changing our heart and attitude from selfishness and pride to humility and brokenness. We can approach God then for forgiveness. To not change my heart and attitude is to become ineffective for the Lord. If we want to be affective in ministry in presenting truth to others, we need to be right before the Lord. People are not stupid for they will see our hypocrisy.
Lord, show me my attitude and heart and where I need to change. What are my obstacles that are hurting my relationship with you? Break me, if need be, so I'm right before you.

Doing my research again… Read about the death of Aaron’s sons death below is the end statement
“If this story is troubling to contemporary Christians, it is because we no longer have a realistic and biblical sense of sin and its seriousness. Furthermore, we do not have a proper understanding of who God is, especially his holiness, purity and awesomeness. Let it serve as a proper warning to all of us, especially those in leadership positions in the house of God.”
That article, and verse 10: 1-3 remind me of how we as a society have taken consequences for children’s bad acts out of our schools …
Not a good thing
What we read today reminded me of Ananias & Sapphira from the New Testament in Acts 5. God is holy and always deserves to be treated that way. Hebrews 12:28-29 relates to this as well, “Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” Even Moses failed before and there were consequences because of it as we see in Deuteronomy 32:51-52 “because you broke faith with Me in the midst of the people of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, and because you did not treat Me as holy in the midst of the people of Israel. For you shall see the land before you, but you shall not go there, into the land that I am giving to the people of Israel.” We read in Leviticus 10 about what happened to Nadab and Abihu because of their mistake. Of course we all fail at times like we read in Romans 3:23, but this incident had severe consequences immediately with both of them being killed by fire that came out from before the LORD as He is a consuming fire.
