Many Blessings to You! Genesis chapter 4. Adam and Eve have children, Cain and Abel. Each of them had their own responsibilities. Overtime God confronted Cain and told him to repent (turn from his evil ways – his sins) and if he did he would find favor with God. God warned Cain to repent or else it would rule over him. And God wanted to rule over Cain and not his sin rule over him. But Cain gives in to sin and its desires and plans a time to kill Abel. When God asked Cain where his brother was, Cain responded with an attitude and lies to God. As a result of his actions God gives Cain consequences. Because every decision has its own consequences. Cain’s consequences were: he was cursed. He would have to work harder for food. And he was removed to another land.
God, out of love for us, will bring circumstances in our lives to help us to get on the right path with him. There are times we are going to need to repent from sin. God desires us to repent and to get in a right standing with him. God warns us of consequences if we don't repent. We can't let sin control over our lives. We must yield to the Holy Spirit and allow his empowerment to rule over us. If we do not yield to the Holy Spirit, and we do not repent, there will be consequences. They may be devastating consequences. They may be embarrassing. They may hurt, not just us, but others around us including our loved ones. God loves us and wants our lives to be blessed and not cursed. What is lurking in our hearts or maybe already ruling in our hearts that we need to repent from right now before we face devastating consequences?

It is a beautiful sunrise this morning, and I am looking forward to a God blessed day.
It’s obvious that we live in a sin-cursed world where fighting and murdering happens on a regular basis. This isn’t new to our world. We see this happen way back in Genesis 4 where the first son of Adam & Eve goes out and kills his younger brother. Cain had a choice about how to handle his anger. How sad that he made the wrong one! It’s good to know that we don’t have to make the same mistake. Jesus can help us and He’s the only One who can make us and keep us holy.

After reading this I’m reflecting on how I have always viewed Cain as an awful, horrible murderer. I find myself saying, “how could his anger cause him to kill his brother?” I think of how absurd it is… yet I myself hold onto grudges against people when I feel hurt by them. I choose to ignore them, be cold to them, and even gossip about them. How am I any different from Cain when I hold onto my anger? Not much… this scripture was a great reminder to remember to choose forgiveness and let go of anger
We never know how far reaching consequences will go. I find it interesting that at the very end of the chapter it says that after Seth had his son Enos, then men began to call on the Lord. What happened in that span of time that they stopped? Adam and Eve obviously knew God, and Cain and Abel spoke with God. Was it Cain’s sin that caused the change? On a side note, this chapter mentions the father of musicians!
If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.
Wow, rule over my sin is going to take shape in watching less crap on TV. Thank you Lord for helping me turn from my sin, I need your strength…Amen
