Daily Bible Challenge: Day 605 Psalms Chapter 127

Good Morning Everyone!  You are Loved and Appreciated!

Verse 1 starts with, “Unless the Lord builds the house the workers labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”

This is a difficult passage for people to accept, because our mindset is, as long as you're doing “GOOD THINGS” then your deeds are of value. Though that may be true from an earthly standpoint, it's far from true from a spiritual standpoint.

Just doing GOOD THINGS for the world is temporary, our focus needs to be what is beyond the physical and earthly world. We must be thinking eternally, the spiritual world.

On Earth, it is easy to want to be in control. And some may think how nice it is to do good for others. But if it's done from our control and our power, then it has no spiritual value. It gives no glory or credit to God so therefore your work is in vain.

Those who see God as the whole reason for life, or the one who understands that God created them, God has gifted them, and God has given value and purpose, that's the person who says, “I want to serve the Lord by serving others. I want people to see Jesus through me. I want to bring glory to God's name and not my name.” That's the person whose work is not in vain. That's the person who is building a God kingdom.

When our deeds are for the Lord, it results in heavenly rewards because we're building God's kingdom.

Answer these three questions:

1. How did I get here?

2. What is my purpose?

3. Where am I going when I die?

If God is excluded from any of these, then you labor in vain and vain work dies.

1. How did I get here? God created me.

2. What is my purpose? My purpose is to have a relationship with God through Jesus. It is to serve others with my God-given gifts so I can reach others with the Good News of Jesus through love and through telling the Good News.

3. Where am I going when I die? If I fulfilled God's purpose for my life, then its eternal life. If I fulfilled my selfish desires, then my work is in vain and results in death. Which is separation from God eternally in a lake of fire called hell.

This is serious stuff!!!! It's not about Good Deeds. It's not about Nice Things. It's all about a relationship with God through Jesus only. Resulting in fulfilling one's purpose. I'll close with a passage that I will only assume you will want to read: Matthew 7:21-29. It reinforces what has been written in Psalm 127. It's worth the read.
