Psalms Chapter 60. Not again?
The land of Judah is amongst their enemies but they have not been following the Lord. They have felt the Lord's rejection upon them and now, while amongst their enemies, they call for God's restoration and deliverance.
I've seen it, but I've also experienced it myself. One calls desperately for the Lord when in GREAT need.
During this great time of need, one's faith grows and one's commitment increases. One's prayer life increases. One is in the Word of God more. Church attendance increases. And during this time one is praying for God's intervention and one even asks others to be praying for them.
Then once God intervenes, there's a great celebration and time of praise and thanksgiving.
But once the dust settles, the old way of life gradually seeps back in. One's prayer life diminishes, again. One's time in the Word decreases, again. All of a sudden, one is too busy for church, again. One begins to resort back to the old way of living, again.
Why??? Why do we do that?
God, help me fall in love with you! Help me to hunger and thirst for your righteousness. Help me to weep over lost souls so that I am driven and motivated to want to reach lost souls. Teach me more about evangelism and discipleship and your Love. Teach me and help me that I might better help, serve, disciple, and love others!
