Psalm chapter 28. Thanks for your mercy!
The psalmist, once again, prays for God's help and intervention. He prays for the wicked to get what they deserve while praying for God's mercy for deliverance.
Verse six jumps out to me when the psalmist says, “Praise be to the Lord for he has heard my cry for mercy.”
In reality, none of us deserve Mercy. We deserve punishment just like the wicked for we are all sinners, yet because of God's great love for us, he shows us mercy and kindness. We should be praising God regularly with great joy for all he does for us: For giving us another day to breathe and live. For his forgiveness and compassion. For his amazing love.
The psalmist says, “My heart leaps for joy and with my song I praise him.”
I hate to say this since I'm probably the worst example, but our day should be filled with more joy and praises to our God for all he does for us.
Our hearts should regularly be leaping with joy and our lips filled with praises because of the Lord's great love & Mercy, and for all he does for us.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
Psalms 103:8
Thank God for His great mercy!
Verse 3 stood out to me in this chapter as I read about those who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts. We are to love our neighbors as ourselves, but we need to be sincere about it and get real, not just fake it. We should always have the right motives behind our actions.
I’m reminded of 1 Corinthians 10:24.
Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.
