First Chronicles chapter 23. Leadership is hard.
David gathered all the Levites ages 20 and more. There were 38,000 Levites age 30 and more. Those ones were put in charge of the Temple. Some were also officials and judges. Some were gatekeepers. Some were worship leaders. The younger ones had other specific responsibilities. All the Levites working together is what was necessary in order to make the function of running a temple possible. King David did a great job getting people for the different responsibilities.
I must confess that this passage hurts a little because I don't feel I'm a great executive director of a camp. To make a camp or any Ministry or occupation work and be successful, you need to be able to delegate and communicate with those working under you.
1. As for me, I have just now gotten a list of names of people willing to volunteer with different administrative responsibilities. Now I need to take the time and distribute those responsibilities. To do this would be a great blessing.
2. I'm learning I'm not a great communicator with those under me. I hate that I am struggling with this. God is teaching me new things which means my weaknesses are exposed before others. This is certainly not my favorite part of being a leader but I know God is wanting to help me learn and grow. My prayer is God please give me mercy and Grace so that I can see and have faith in becoming better and stronger. Help others to be patient with me. Amen.
Being in leadership is a humbling experience for sure. But, PB, God is teaching you so much. I am amazed at how much He continues to teach me – which means He thinks I’m still worth it. In my mind, a good leader is one who recognizes his/her own weaknesses, sees those that God has given the talents and skills to fill the gaps and then lets them shine. We are all a work in progress – thank you, Jesus. You remain in my prayers but I see His mercy and grace in the growth of your ministry. God bless you & yours, PB!

There is a great responsibility that comes with being in a leadership role. Bible verses such as James 3:1 remind me of the seriousness involved in teaching others. Matthew 18:6, Mark 9:42 and Luke 17:2 tell about the consequences of causing a little one to sin so it’s definitely not something to be taken lightly. We should always be striving for improvement to learn and grow in various ways in our lives to be more and more like Jesus. I think that if we would ever stop trying to learn or grow with the Lord, then we would be in a very dangerous place. I’m thankful for Pastor Blair and his commitment to serving the Lord and showing God’s love in action. May there be excellent communication and Christlike unity among the team as volunteers serve in various ways. May the Lord continue to bless the ministry of Edinboro Camp as He helps Pastor Blair as he humbly leads and keeps on getting better.
