Good morning everyone! Judges chapter 18.

Chapter 18 reminds me of chapter 17. Because the Danites seem to have the same mindset as Micah and his mother who seemed to really believe in God but took on faults God and idol worshipping.

  1. Perhaps they took on the idol worshipping in addition to worshipping God thinking that the more gods they had the better they were and thus, the stronger they were.
  2. Perhaps they were so far away from the House of God that they felt they needed something visible to worship.
  3. Perhaps it was a little bit of both.

Either way their thinking was messed up. False gods and idols are wrong. There is only one true God.

Regardless of the reason, they seem to have a real belief in God just a very poor understanding of who God was and God's desire for their full allegiance. It seemed so much a part of their culture and life and lifestyle, that they were okay with it and assumed God was okay with it too!

Like I said yesterday God is not just a God of love who could care less of our compromises with this world and sin. Yes God is love but God is also Holy and asks of us to be holy, meaning turning away from sin or else face the consequences of a Just God for God is Just. God is fair. We get what we deserve. We can't flirt with the things of this world. We must let go and walk away from anything or anyone that hinders, replaces, or tries to share our worship with God.

Dear Lord thank you that you love me and always are ready to embrace me and forgive me of any confessed sins. Help me to be holy As You Are Holy. Help me let go of everything that hinders my faith walk with you so that on judgment Day when I stand before you, I hear Well done my good and faithful servant thus entering into heaven. Versus hearing Depart from me you who are cursed into the eternal Lake of fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
