Greetings All! I pray all is going well!
Joshua chapter 23. We're getting close to the end of the book of Joshua.
Joshua is very old and knows he's going to die soon. So he gathers all the head people to give final words. His final words were all about being faithful to the Lord. Why?
Because it's too easy to become unfaithful to the Lord. There are constant obstacles before us:
- Busy schedules
- Peer pressure
- Ego trips
- Wanting to be number one vs mentoring others
- Money
- Popularity
- Fame
- Sports
- Hobbies
- And whatever else that Satan will use to distract us from the Lord.
We need the Holy Spirit to help us be self-disciplined and to use self-control. That way we can overcome each and every obstacle and remain faithful to the Lord!
Questions you can ask yourself and think about:
What is my biggest obstacle that affects my relationship with the Lord?
What am I doing about it? Or What could I do about it?
I'd love to be a support as I know others would too!

Joshua’s words to the leaders say it all – Cling to the Lord your God (v 8). God will expel but you must possess (v 5). In other words, God will do His part but we must do our part as well.
Joshua’s warning to the people is true for us as well. We need to be aware of what’s in our backyard. We are involved in a very real war, attacked constantly by a very real adversary – a roaring lion who prowls about, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). It doesn’t matter how old we are or how long we’ve been walking with the Lord – we’re not home free until we get to heaven. But He gives us the tools – His word and His promises – to fight the war. We need to cling to the Lord. Amen?
Amen, Jeanine.
Joshua gives the people great advice in chapter 23 as he knows that he won’t be around to lead them much longer. He tells them to keep clinging to God and not to turn away from Him. Verse 11 stood out to me.
“Be very careful, therefore, to love the Lord your God.”
