Genesis chapter 36.
Yes, another genealogy getting us towards Joseph. What I found interesting in reading this is that they mentioned about the two guys who discovered Hot Springs. It's a genealogy but it seemed important enough to mention that. Which makes me wonder how Godly of a Nation was this family? It seems that if there were Godly men who loved the Lord, it would have been mentioned. Which makes me wonder how many Godly men and women were there really in this whole genealogy? I'm hoping that if down the road someone reads about a genealogy of my family, that it would be evident or noted that Blair loved the Lord and because of his love for the Lord others were influenced to follow the Lord. Not so they'll think highly of me, but so that they’ll think highly of the Lord. Am I leading or influencing families that will result in genealogies of people following the Lord? Or not?

We mostly read about who was in Esau’s family in this chapter. Genealogies aren’t always the easiest for me to read, but God has included this information in His Word and I’m sure that it is there for good reason even if I may not understand it all today or pronouncing all of those names correctly. Pastor Blair asked a great question. May the Holy Spirit use our leading and influencing to produce good fruit that has a positive impact on the next generation and beyond.
Today’s parody is Sweet Oholibamah. Here’s the link for it.

Loved it! Thanks. Oholibamah means “tent of the high place” which was a temple prostitute. Small wonder we see Esau names her Judith (Gen 26:34) when he brings her home to Mom and Pop.
I’m glad that you enjoyed it, Jeanine. Thanks for all of your comments. It has been great for me to learn more and receive valuable insight and wisdom from you and the others who share along the way with the Daily Bible Challenge.
It is hard to understand some chapters like this but as Jim said, all scripture is inspired by God – it’s all God-breathed and all important. We’ll see many of the names mentioned in Esau’s genealogy in later chapters of the Bible as they impact the Israelites … for example, the Amalekites, Horites, Eliphaz the Temanite (in Job).
I see Esau and his genealogy representing the flesh, the part of us that demands to be satisfied. The part that is contrary to the spirit. Pious, prolific, persuasive, pernicious, powerful, proud, persistent and pitiful!
read it….then listened to it on bible gateway to help me with pronunciation…then read it again.
i understand, but its sad that jacob and essu couldn’t live together.
Brian! I am so glad you suggested to listen on Bible gateway. I had a lot of difficulty reading it to myself, but listening helped! God is certainly fulfilling his promise to make the descents of Abraham more than there are stars in the sky!
