Genesis chapter 5. it says that Enoch walked faithfully with God and God took him away at a young age. Just to think about the word walking faithfully with God is mind-boggling. I want to walk faithfully with God all of my days. There seems to always be obstacles that Satan throws in
front of me to challenge my thoughts and my actions. It shows how important it is to lean on the Lord and also on our brothers and sisters in Christ. We need each other to encourage each other so that we stay focused on our walk with Christ. And we have to be ready to leave this earth at any time. We are not guaranteed long life just because we are Christians. God may call us home today or tomorrow or when we're 99 years old. I have to be ready!

Something that stuck out to me after reading this chapter today was the fact that Noah was over 500 years old when he fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Wow! We don’t know how old Noah’s wife was exactly, but I’m guessing that she also had some years under her belt. The entire future of mankind depended on the birth of these three guys and I don’t think the Bible mentions anyone else who ever had children over the age of 500! I realize that people don’t live that long these days, but Noah reminds me of how God can use us at any age to do incredible things for Him!
I hope you enjoy 969!

The Word is such a wonder … did you realize the entire gospel message is embedded in Gen 5 in the literal meaning of the names of Adam’s line. The man (Adam) appointed (Seth) to death (Enos) sorrowful (Cainan), from th epresence of God (Mahalaleel), one comes down (Jared), dedicated (Enoch), dying (Methuselah) , He shall send to the poor and lowly (Lamech) rest and comfort (Noah). It’s all about Jesus!
Thank you for this insight
Sometimes I can get lost in chapters like Genesis 5 with all the names and all the ages… I really appreciate the ability to pull out a powerful message, like walking with God. Also I appreciate to knowledge others bring to this comment section!
I love reading what each person has to say!!! It’s inspiring to me!
I get overwhelmed reading the names. I know God will help me to walk with him. I pray that I keep this challenge going because I need this. Sometimes I feel like I want to slip away. This will help me out!
