Good morning! Genesis chapter 3. This chapter is constantly a reminder of my weaknesses. The devil is crafty and his sole purpose is to deceive. He presented himself to Eve and Adam and deceived them into thinking eating of the fruit was okay. Eve looked at the fruit and was deceived in that:
1. She focused on that which she shouldn't have.
2. It was pleasing to her eye.
3. It was desirable for gaining wisdom.
4. She took it and ate it.
Things have not changed much since the beginning of time. Satan still presents himself through all kinds of forms. He speaks through the voice of money, friends, material things, relationships etc. He's still out to deceive us. I must be willing to recognize where I'm being deceived and not focus on it but flee from it. Where am I being deceived today? Am I being a spiritual leader in my household? When I give in to sin I must be ready for natural consequences that could affect my body, my relationships, and my heart. I must take responsibility for my actions and not do the blame game.

I agree and with sin there has to be forgiveness …
I have never closely read where it says “your desires should be contrary” when it come to Adam and Eve. It makes so much sense now when my marriage goes through turmoil, at times our desires are not the same and we fight. I must remember where it began and to resist the urge to fight knowing it comes from Satan.
Ravi Zaccharias has said that “Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay. ”
Adam and Eve sure found that out when they had to leave the beautiful garden and start experiencing pain and suffering as sin always has consequences. They had tried covering themselves up just as we may try to cover up our sins on our own, but that just doesn’t work. Hebrews 9:22 tells us that without the shedding of blood there’s no forgiveness of sins. Only the blood of Jesus can wash our sin away and make us clean!

It’s the same old struggle…facing the consequences of sin and trying to place the blame elsewhere.
We see all the time how satan is still trying hard to trick us. I have to be on our knees praying. This is really helping me. Thank you Jesus.
We need God with us and fighting for us 24-7 and not go it alone.
Just caught up with you Pastor but happy to be here. I’ve often meditated on the fact that God used food as a central figure in this particular story. Fruit may seem mundane but I think it serves as a reminder that sinful behavior can be centered around things that are part of our daily habits. We can be blind to regular sinful patterns.
This chapter reminds me that God sees all (He knew where Adam and Eve were) and we only fool ourselves when we think we can hide. He wants us to confess our sins so that our fellowship with Him is not broken. What an amazing God our God is.
