Exceptional Adults Camp
Welcome to our five-day camp for adults (18+) with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Our safe and fun environment gives adult campers an opportunity to laugh and play while experiencing the love of Jesus Christ. Campers enjoy Bible stories, movies, swimming, crafts, singing, gentle exercise, delicious meals, and much more, all while being served by a caring staff.
Camp 1: June 2-6, 2025
Camp 2: July 14-18, 2025
Our special needs camp strives to meet their:
Physical Needs
We get to participate in activities that include everything from swimming and walking to painting and volleyball. We sing, dance and take advantage of the beautiful camp with gentle hikes, picnics, and bonfires.
Social Needs
Everyone is valued, important and a key member of our camp. We focus on the value of each individual and the fact that we all have a unique purpose in life.
Spiritual Needs
We build and nurture relationships with fellow campers and staff. We also talk about what it means to begin a friendship with Jesus.
“I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14
What is the Camper Criteria?
This camp’s purpose is to provide a safe, fun, community camp environment. Although we recognize the need for respite care, that is not our purpose. In order for our program to be successful the following criteria must be met:
- The campers must be able to participate in simple crafts, some physical activity, some response to music and speakers, etc.
- The campers must be able to control themselves in an appropriate manner so we can provide a safe, fun, community environment for everyone.
- The campers must be able to take care of their own personal needs, i.e. dressing, personal hygiene and showering with minimal assistance.
- The campers must be continent. We ask that the campers be able to express their needs in some manner.
- Campers who use a wheelchair should be able to transfer independently into and out of the wheelchair (i.e. to a bed, using a toilet, transfer to chair, etc.), as well as navigate their wheelchair independently or with minimal assistance.
- At camp, the ground can be uneven and in some places rocky. Please be mindful of this if the camper has difficulty with ambulation or gait (i.e. if using a walker or cane).
- Our counselors are here to guide the campers with the camp program. They are not trained nursing assistants but instead are individuals with training only to meet the campers' basic and simple needs. Our counselor to camper ratio ranges from 1:2 to 1:4.
If you have any questions or a special circumstance, please feel free to contact our director, Dan Borchert at 814-882-9816 and it's best to call between 9:30am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
