Daniel Chapter 8. We can do this!
Daniel's vision in this chapter consists of many kings and kingdoms that will rise and fall. It even speaks of the devil who will rise up and deceive God's holy people and will be very arrogant. But when he goes against God's son, the devil is defeated.
John 16:33 is reminder that Jesus is more powerful than the temptations we face every day. Because Satan is constantly trying to tear us down in sin, it becomes easy to feel discouraged by overwhelming sin. We feel defeated and without hope but I John 4:4 reminds us that Jesus, who lives within us through his Holy Spirit, is greater than the devil who is in the world. In Matthew 28:18 Jesus declares he has all authority and he gives us that authority. We can overcome all sin and temptation by the Lord's authority and power and not our own.
Never give up! Keep persevering! Keep pursuing God! James 4:7-8a says, “Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
Don't forget, God gives us the body of Christ, other followers of Christ, as a means to encourage us in our faith walk. If you feel defeated in sin, share and confess your sin and struggles with a respected Christian leader who can encourage you in your faith walk and help hold you accountable so you walk in victory over sin.
