Ezekiel Chapter 6. A rude awakening.

God prophesies against the Israelites because they are worshiping false idols. Some will die amongst their idols while some will escape the sword and will return to the Lord.
Have you ever had a rude awakening? That things weren't really as they seemed? A friend of our daughters went out riding in a pickup truck with four other girls all shoved in the cab of the truck, plus they had alcohol. A cop ended up pulling the truck over because he could see there were too many people in the vehicle, which resulted in capturing some girls with underage drinking. This friend of our daughters had a rude awakening. She didn't typically drink but that night she got with the wrong crowd and got in some trouble. She felt so bad that she felt compelled to tell some of her adult friends. So she told me and her cross country coach what happened and that she was sorry. She made some bad choices but got right with the Lord.
And that's what's happening in this chapter with the israelites. They will be devastated and killed but some will escape the sword and will come to their senses and get right with God. They will have a Rude Awakening.
Some of us don't like to get our hands caught in the cookie jar, but the best thing we can do when caught in sin is take ownership for our sins. Take responsibility. We can either die in our sin or take ownership and repent from our sins and experience New Life!
