| Jeremiah chapter 46. What are you consumed with? The prophecy from God is pretty consistent. He speaks of the disaster that will occur from the King in Babylon against Egypt for not repenting from sin. It seems that an easy response would be, “Why does God keep repeating himself?” Because the people don't listen! God's love motivates himself to keep reaching out to see the people saved. But this chapter shows how stubborn people really are. It's so easy to get distracted by the things of this world that hinders our relationship with the Lord. It's so easy to be deceived in our thinking. We hear lies so much, or we fall in love with worldly things, or we see so many people following evil that eventually we call evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20 and II Timothy 3:1-5). Truth becomes what our culture says it is and so when the one in a million person comes along to say repent from sin, people don't take such a person seriously. That one small person who speaks truth ends up being labeled a FOOL or a LIAR! What is truth? The Word of God is Truth! Are you reading it? Do you hunger and thirst for it? Do we push everything aside so we can read it and study it? If not, then the Word of TRUTH will be easily replaced by that which consumes our thoughts and mind. What are you consumed with? |
