Daily Bible Challenge: Day 738 Isaiah Chapter 59

by Blair Blakeslee | Feb 20, 2021 | Daily Bible Challenge | 0 comments

Isaiah chapter 59. Stop flirting with sin.

In this chapter we see that God loves his people and wants a love relationship with them. Israel was indulged into sin and refused to repent of sin resulting into a broken relationship with God. But God said if they were to repent and turn from sin he would save them and redeem them. He would fill them with his Holy Spirit. God would be with them and use them and speak his truth and justice through them.

A personal story I would like to tell is that I was a virgin up till my marriage date. I remember my college girlfriend and I wanted God to bless our relationship. We read the Bible together and we prayed together. But at one point we began to flirt with the devil. Staying sexually pure was becoming more and more of a challenge. And I remember the Holy Spirit speaking to us. I began to speak words that my girlfriend and I both knew were not my words but the words of God. Basically, the words that came from my lips were: “STOP flirting with sin. Repent or my Holy Spirit will not be effective in and through your lives. Your flirting with sin will only shut me out.”

I remember that day vividly and it's a reminder to me to not flirt with sin and repent of sins that capture My flesh because God's love will motivate him to strive for me which can be humiliating or embarrassing because he doesn't want his children walking in sin.
God forgive me of my sins and strengthen me to stay holy and pure in your sight so I can effectively do the work you called me to do for your glory. Amen.
