Isaiah chapter 47. There's No Excuse.
Babylon was an enemy of God and showed no mercy on Israel and put all their faith and trust into sorcery, magic spells, and astrologers. They were arrogant and felt they were above God. All they learned was taught to them from a child. They were led astray right from the beginning.
No matter what, regardless of our age or our social or financial status, we will all face God on judgment day. Will we approach our God having a relationship with Jesus? Or will we stand before God having lived a life apart from Christ because we were too busy focusing on self and not on God? Will our arrogance be that which causes our Doom?
As this chapter points out, the fact that there were those who were led astray as children growing up, even that won't be a good excuse before God on judgment day.
Because those who were misled by their parents while growing up, will be presented the truth through different means (Romans 1:18-20):
1) God will show himself through his creation.
2) God will show himself through his Spirit.
3) God will show himself through a neighbor or grandmother or a friend or even an enemy.
Eventually, every person will have to choose for themselves who they will follow, the Lord and his desires or self and one's own desires.
Do we let go of every false teaching our parents taught us or do we suffer with them on Judgment Day?
CHALLENGE: May we please grab the truth of Jesus and then present it to our family.
Let God use us to bring truth to those around us so they may also be saved from their sins and saved from the judgment of God because of sin.
Who will you point to Jesus today?
