Isaiah Chapter 33.  What are my ears listening to?
Isaiah chapter 33 warns those who pridefully destroy and betray others for God's wrath will come upon them. But those who pursue a life of righteousness and turn from evil will find God's help and intervention and victory.
There are two worlds and we will listen to one of them. There's a world of evil with talk of evil. It may not be talk of murder or bribes like mentioned in Isaiah chapter 33, but perhaps talk of hate or gossip. Talk of disrespect for authority. We will either get sucked into the world of negativity, gossip, disrespect, anger, abuse or we will allow God to live his Holy Spirit through us to become a spokesperson of life, joy, peace, love, optimism, vision, encouragement, victory!
The Battle of Good and Evil: as strange as it may sound, it seems easy to get sucked into evil. But to do good and be righteous and be a light in a dark World involves commitment, self-discipline, persistence, and reliance on the Holy Spirit and not oneself. It's easy to do evil but hard to do good.
God, by the power of your Holy Spirit, may I be faithful to you and say no to evil. Truly let me be a light for you in a dark World. Let my life and words be a light of your love, life, joy, peace, forgiveness, optimism, faith, encouragement, and victory. May my life point people to Jesus and not to evil.
