Isaiah chapter 13. The Second Coming of Jesus.
This chapter is a great reminder of the second coming of Jesus. His first coming was when he brought salvation to the world. The second coming is the time of judgment. And just like Babylon in this chapter, Christ will bring destruction to those whose lives were without him.
John 3:36 speaks of eternal life for those who received and follow Jesus. Eternal damnation or hell is for those who reject Jesus.
And in the end times, real Babylon will face utter destruction Revelations 18:10.
Where do we fit on the spectrum? Are we pursuing a relationship with Jesus with repentance, forgiveness, and love? Or are we wanting to be in control of our own lives? Yes, we talk about Jesus, but he's not the true leader of our lives.
Just as the destruction is horrible in this chapter so will be eternal separation from God. Matthew 13:50 and Revelations 20:15.
CHALLENGE:
Where do we need to repent? Who do we need to forgive? Who do we need to show love to?
