Ecclesiastes Chapter 9. What does my future look like?
Verse 1 says that we are all in God's hands and no one but the Lord knows what the future holds for us.
Because I'm a follower of Christ, it does not guarantee me certain blessings on Earth.
Being a Christian doesn't automatically mean I'm going to be rich, have a nice three story home with two nice cars.
Being a Christian doesn't automatically mean I'm going to be poor, living in a shack with a junkie beat-up old car. Being a Christian doesn't mean one will never have a stillbirth. Being a Christian doesn't mean I will or will not be beaten or killed or put into prison because of my faith.  Being a Christian doesn't automatically mean I'll never get sick or never die of a disease, or die of some freak car accident. Being a Christian doesn't mean I'll be famous across the world.
I'm guaranteed one thing for sure as a follower of Christ, that is ETERNAL LIFE in heaven when I leave this earth.
My call on Earth is to be OBEDIENT to the Lord (Luke 8:21 and Luke 11:27-28).
And in my obedience I will face trials and tribulations (John 16:33). I'm called to persevere and not give up (James 1:12 and Matthew 10:22).
If God allows me to be blessed with abundance, then I must be a blessing to others because of the abundance. If God allows me to be alone with no mate, then let his Holy Spirit dwell within me and be a witness and testimony of our great God and Savior.
Let us strive to be all that we can be for the Lord. Let us strive to be the best we can be for the Lord. But be thankful for what he allows us to be blessed with, whether little or lot, and always be a light for Jesus in our dark world.
And let us not forget the prize that awaits the faithful followers of Christ when they leave this Earthly life (Philippians 3:14).
