Ecclesiastes chapter 6. Be Content.
We are given by God so we can enjoy aspects of life, but if we keep coveting or wanting more, then we end up not enjoying what we have.
To have little can actually be Enough to sustain us. To gain a lot more doesn't mean we are sustained all the more. We just end up worrying more and never feeling satisfied. Learning to be content can save us a lot of headaches.
The poor man, because he has learned contentment, can learn to live a life of comfort just like a rich person may feel a comfortable life.
We can't let the lust of our eyes and what the world has to offer overpower the resting of our soul when we walk in faith with the Lord.
Let our greatest desire not be for “more things”, but for a stronger walk with the Lord through Jesus Christ. Let us submit, not to the lust of our eyes, but rather to the will of God. The greatest joys are not from what the world has to offer but from knowing we are walking in obedience to the will of God.
CHALLENGE:
Where do we put our energy? Are we trying to lay out a plan on how we can get the next “cool toy” more than we're seeking God with our whole heart so we can walk according to his will using our gifts for his glory? It's not bad to pursue fun things to “play” with. The danger is when we neglect the Father and his desires because we are too busy trying to fulfill our desires. How are you doing?
