Ecclesiastes Chapter 3. There's a Time for Everything.
The writer of this chapter says that there's a time for everything and gives a long list of examples. These examples made me think of times when I'm joking with someone and times when I'm serious.
I have friendships where there's a time we joke and a time we are serious.  I enjoy joking around, But when we are able to sit and I can hear them share about something that's important to them, it's very uplifting. The Friendship becomes stronger.
Two examples the writer gives is there's a Time to Live and a Time to Die. A Time to Laugh and a Time to Weep.
A Time to Live and Time to Die: I just experienced an announcement of an older lady from the church who died from a heart attack. It's reminder that life on Earth is our temporary home. Where we go after we die is our eternal home. It's a reminder to me to live everyday for the Lord and for his glory and honor.
A Time To Laugh A Time To Weep: We can laugh about life but when mishaps occur, weather a death or injury or sickness of a loved one, it can cause one to weep. Tears are a sign of having a Love CONNECTION for another person. Who are you connected to that if something happened to them you'd be sad?
My CHALLENGE is this:
Take time every day to show God's love to others. Show it to your family members especially since you never know when God will call any of them home. Don't let someone leave this earth without reconciling any hurts. Let forgiveness fill our hearts and not hate. Unmended relationships bring regrets and lasting hurt or pain.
Also connect with others. We need each other. God did not create us to be isolated from others but to be relational. Build love relationships. My fear is, we become so caught up in self that we miss opportunities to connect with others.
If my greatest fear is my death over the death of others, or I feel more sad over the thought of me dying versus someone else, then perhaps I'm not connecting with others like God would want me to.
God, give me your heart and eyes for others. Help me connect with them whether it be a family member or even a stranger. I want them to see their own value and worth. I want to make life about others and not just all about me.
