Proverbs chapter 29. What are your goals?
Verse 18 jumps out to me. It says, “Where there is no vision people perish.”
Another translation says, “Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint.”
Let me give a paraphrased version. “Where people have no goals, they have no guidelines in helping them make decisions. As a result they end up doing whatever they feel like doing on any given day.”
Once we establish goals for our lives, then we have guidelines for helping us make decisions that get us toward our goals.  For Example:
1) What are my goals for being a great husband? I want my wife to know she's beautiful. She is gifted. She is loved.
So if these are my goals then how do my words and actions reinforce these goals? Where can I improve?
2) What are my goals for Ministry? I want to preach the truth. Speak at different venues. Help refugees. Mentor men. So the question is, what am I doing to work toward these goals?
CHALLENGE: Apply this concept to every aspect of your life. Your job. Your children. The church. Etc.
Here's the key! Before you start, pray for God's vision/goals. Then cover these goals with prayer for God's help. And be open for the Spirit leading in new areas or new goals. Let him be the main source that reveals our vision or goals.
