Proverbs Chapter 28. Who's REALLY In Charge?
Verse 2 says, “When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order.”
I immediately thought of Seattle and other cities that had total chaos during the riots. Chop or Chaz took an area of Seattle hostage. They were out of control with violence, death, burnings and destruction galore. There was no order!
Verse 12 says, “When the righteous triumph there is great elation, but when the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding.” Just like in Seattle, people were hiding in their homes, in fact, some were leaving the city including businesses.
Verse 5 says, “Evildoers don't understand what is right, but those who seek the Lord understand it.”
That's why it's almost impossible to have a calm conversation with an evil doer. They aren't open for a calm conversation of sharing ideas. They can't grasp spiritual truth because their heart is hard toward spiritual truth. It doesn't make sense to them or it does make sense but they don't want to change their lifestyle so they deny it, run from it, refuse to listen, or argue against it.
So Who is REALLY in Charge?
Sadly, I'm not much different.  Verse 9 says, “If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction, even their prayers are detestable.”
When I get sucked into any kind of sin, whether a hidden behavior or thought, it's easy to conclude that because nobody knows about it that it's not wrong. I let satan take hostage my thoughts and behaviors that come from the sinful thoughts.  I even think that it is so well hidden that even God doesn't see it. It's like I become Adam or Eve hiding in the woods from God, as if God had no idea where they were at or what they had done. God is ever so aware of all of my thoughts and actions. I need to quit hiding secret sins and thoughts and bring everything before the Lord in brokenness and repentance. Verse 13 says, Mercy is given to the one who confesses their sin and repents.  That's GOOD NEWS – God's Mercy is Available!
I need to daily confess and surrender to the Lord. God help me!

CHALLENGE: Let God REALLY be in Charge!  Surrender EVERYTHING!  Every Thought and Behavior!
