Proverbs Chapter 16. Have you really surrendered everything to the Lord? I mean, EVERYTHING?
What does a surrendered life to the Lord look like? To give my life totally to the Lord means I want him to be in control of my life and for his will to be done in my life over my will. God knows the gifts he has given me and how they can be used to the fullest on any given day.
Proverbs 16 is a great reminder that God is in control so we would be wise to let him be in control.
Verse 3 says, we are to commit everything to the Lord and then he will establish our plans.
To truly commit everything is to:
1) Let God be in control.
2) It enables him to have his will over ours.
3. It's a way of saying I Trust You Lord and have faith that you will work out all the details.
4. Verse 4 says, “The Lord works everything to its proper end.”  God sees the big picture so if we keep our faith and trust, He'll get us where we need to be versus where we think we should be.
Verse 9 says, “People come up with plans but the Lord establishes their steps.”
We don't see the whole picture. We see only a small portion of the picture of our lives. And from our limited vision we THINK we know the right way things should be done. We THINK we know what's best.
It's okay to pursue what we THINK God has for us but then when God shuts the door on our plans we should not be ANGRY or upset with God but THANKFUL because he knows what's best and He is in control.
We often get upset when the job we pursue doesn't happen. Or the person that we think we're going to marry doesn't happen. Or the activities we had planned on a given day get changed.
So since God knows what's best, then instead of getting upset we should REJOICE because we truly believe God is in control and he's getting us where we need to be rather than where we think we're supposed to be. God knows Best.
CHALLENGE: Are you willing to surrender everything? Are you willing to trust God even when it looks like he doesn't know what he's doing?
