Proverbs Chapter 15. What comes out of your mouth?
Chapter 15 makes comments about the lips, our words an ind tongue.  It says:
The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge. The soothing tongue is a tree of life. Lips of the wise spreads knowledge. How good is a timely word.
On the negative side it says:
The mouth of a fool gushes folly. Perverse tongue crushes the spirit. Heart of a fool is not upright. Mouth of the wicked gushes evil.
Does what we say build others up or tear them down? Does what we say show wisdom and insight in helping those in need? Does what we say comfort or soothe the heart of the listener? Are we so in tune with what's going on in someone's life that our words are timely? Do our words come at the right time to encourage someone from doing something they shouldn't do?
Or is our heart so grounded in the world that we find ourselves being perverted with our comments? Telling dirty jokes? Getting sucked into a world of comments that are disrespectful to others? We're focused on devising evil plans!
Matthew 12:36-37 Jesus said, “And I say to you that every careless word that people shall speak, they shall render account for it in the day of judgement. For by your words you will be justified and by your words you shall be condemned.”
What we are allowing ourselves to be consumed with will determine what comes out of our mouths.
1. Are you seeking the love of God so that out of your mouth come words that help others?
2. Are you seeking to fit in with the pattern of this world, that what comes out of your mouth shows your selfishness, or desire for evil?
CHALLENGE: Pursue the Lord with all your heart and see if what comes out of your mouth changes for the good.
