Psalms Chapter 141. I love being rebuked – REALLY?
The psalmist is against evil and wickedness and calls on the Lord to keep him from falling into sin. He even welcomes somebody's rebuke if it means helping him stay focused on the Lord.
The psalmist has a great attitude when it comes to staying focused on the Lord. He sees Great value in having an accountability partner (A.P.).
1. A true commitment to having an AP and being an AP for someone else is great in helping encouraging each other with one's walk with the Lord.
2. An AP loves you enough to be honest.
3. An AP knows the value in lovingly and gently sharing the truth when confronting a friend about their negative walk with the Lord.
4. Someone committed to having an AP is able to accept another's feedback without permanently getting upset and angry. It usually hurts but the right heart means great results in one's life and eventually a thankful heart.
5. The end result is change/repentance/a closer walk with the Lord.
So I welcome feedback from any of you guys if you see me behaving or speaking in a manner not consistent with the Lord's truth or ways. Hopefully I can do the same with you all. Galatians 6:1 says that if your friend is caught in a sin then we are to restore them gently and not judgmentally because one day we too will be caught in a sin and we will appreciate someone gently and lovingly rebuking us versus judging us.
Have a great day in the wonderful Son.
