Psalms chapter 125. Trust God. I mean really trust Him!
What are you trusting God for? His plans? Or your plans?
This chapter has 5 verses with five different themes. I'd like to focus on one of them. Verse one says that, “Those who trust in the Lord … cannot be shaken….”
There are times I can honestly say I trust God in our given life circumstances. For example:
1. I believe God can sustain Edinboro Camp despite the fact we have canceled so many things because of the pandemic.
2. During the pandemic, WCTL radio station did their normal fundraiser over the radio. Their goal was $80,000. Many years they don't make their goal, but this year they surpassed it by nearly $12,000.
3. A large church is hurting with people not giving. During the pandemic people stepped up and gave above and beyond the norm and got them out of debt.
God can be trusted. The sad thing is, we define trust to mean, “We get what we want.” True trust goes beyond disappointments, beyond our desires, and beyond what we can see.  “Lord, I trusted you for this job and it didn't happen. Now what do I do because you let me down?”
You have to keep trusting God beyond our failed desires, beyond our understanding, and beyond our sight. We see only that which is in front of us. God sees the big picture of what goes beyond the walls of our sight. Faith and trust is real when we trust God beyond what we can see. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” “We see this job in front of us, and therefore conclude God must want me to have THIS job. It makes perfect sense in our mind so this must be God's will. But God sees a job beyond our sight and beyond our comprehension and understanding. That's why we must trust him when what we perceive to be God's will, ends up not being God's will at all. That's when real trust and faith kick in. “God, I don't know why I didn't get this job, but I trust you beyond my understanding to provide that which you do have for me.” Isaiah 55:8-9 is a good reminder that “Our thoughts are not God's thoughts nor are our ways his ways. As the heavens are higher than the Earth so are God's ways higher than our ways and God's thoughts higher than our thoughts.”
So to truly have a trust in God that is not shaken is to be able to go beyond your disappointments. So, I look forward with trust that God will make his will known to me in his timing. I'll keep pursuing options but I trust God with the results even if they go beyond my desires.
