Psalms Chapter 102. There is hope.
In this chapter, the psalmist is in great pain before the Lord. Evil has come upon him. He's in such a broken state. His heart aches. He's lost his appetite. He's lost weight. His mind is consumed with mistakes and guilt and is suffering. He's looking for a quick relief and intervention from the Lord.
He acknowledges the fact that God is a God of compassion, forgiveness, and restoration. He knows the Lord will intervene. He has that hope!
That's what people are looking for in our world – HOPE!
In 1st Peter chapter 5 it says THAT GOD WILL LET US SUFFER FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND IN DUE TIME WILL RESCUE US.
He is our hope! We have to change our thought process. We can't operate under the assumption that “God has to intervene and restore us immediately!” God is not bound by time.
I have been in great anguish where I felt like my heart was hurting. I didn't have an appetite. My mind was consumed with my predicament – my mistakes. I prayed for God's intervention but felt he was far off. Why would I think such a thing? Because my assumption was “God must intervene now.”
Instead I should be thinking “Now God is at work in my life. He's teaching me or disciplining me or equipping me. He's conforming me into the image of Christ during this painful time so that I will be a better person able to better understand people and their feelings and experiences, thus be better able to encourage them and give them a message of Hope in Christ.”
The bottom line is this: THERE IS HOPE! It doesn't matter where we've been or what we've done, there is hope! We can't give up. We can't let Satan feed us with condemnation and lies. We can't let him tear us down where we feel we are no longer good enough to live for the Lord and serve him. There is hope in Jesus!
Love you! Keep pursuing the heart of God!
