Psalm chapter 55. I trust you!
In this chapter I broke down King David's prayer into 6 sections.
1. PRAYER: He prays to God. Uses the words listen. Don't ignore. Hear me. Answer me.
2. WHY? Why is King David praying? He is troubled. Distraught. Attacked by enemies. He's suffering. Anguish. Terror of death. Fear. Trembling. Horror.
3. ESCAPE: He wants to escape. David wants to fly away. He wants rest. He wants to flee. Find shelter.
4. HELP: King David asks God to intervene. Confuse the wicked. Confound their words. Destroy my enemies.
5. SALVATION: King David calls to God and rejoices that God saves him. He hears. He rescues. He sustains.
6. TRUST: by the end of his prayer, King David is able to say I trust in you God!
What about us?
1. PRAYER: are we taking everything to God in Prayer?
2. WHY? Why are we praying? What is our need?
3. ESCAPE: are we impatient? Do you want to get it over with now? Do we want to escape from it. Are we willing to wait on the Lord? Are we willing to let God teach us what he wants to teach us through this?
4. HELP: you have made it clear with God what your need is. Now wait.
5. SALVATION: God sees your need. He hears your need. He will intervene. He will rescue. He will save. Are you willing to wait?
6. TRUST: when all is said and done, can you say, “I trust you God?”
