Psalm 23 The Lord truly is my shepherd.
This is a very popular Psalm.  Many people have memorized it. I find it being an encouragement for my life today.
It says the Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing.
– to lack nothing is to have no need for something because our Shepherd will provide what we need and when we need it. I want to learn to be content with what I have.
He makes me lie down in Green pastures.
– I want to settle in the place where I am fed and cared for so I can grow to be all that God wants me to be.
He leads me beside quiet Waters.
– place of rest and peace without turbulence.
He refreshes my soul.
– I need it because Satan is always attacking. I've made mistakes or I get overwhelmed so it is a blessing to be refreshed so I can move forward and do so believing God will use me.
He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
– thank you for your guidance and for your spirit that breaks my soul when I entertain the wrong thought or wrong path. Thank you that you love me enough to bring me back to righteousness.
Because you are with me, I don't have to fear any evil because you comfort me.
– thank you I don't have to fear and that you comfort me. However I do fear and I need reminded of your greatness.
You anoint my head with oil and my cup overflows.
– you esteem me so highly and value me more than I can ever comprehend.
Your goodness and love will almost definitely follow me all the days of my life.
– thank you that you continue to strive for me because of your great love!
I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
– thank you Lord for the privilege of spending eternity with you. I can't say it enough! What an everlasting Joy it will be to dwell with God forever in heaven!
