Psalm Chapter 4. Rest in peace!
King David cries out in distress to the Lord. He shares his frustration about how the people are walking in disobedience. He warns the people to get right with God because King David says he's praying to God and God will hear his prayer.
There's a lot that I could say about this chapter but I feel it would be a repeat of recent chapters. So I'd like to focus on the last verse which says,
“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
King David just shared his distress, but amongst all that's going on he's able to say, “In peace I will lie down and sleep….”
For me, there is nothing better than a good night sleep. But at times I wake up at 3 a.m. I can't go back to sleep. I lay in bed turning and tossing. I don't know why I can't sleep. However sometimes my mind just starts to race and think about the days events or week events. I'm concerned with all that “needs” done. I feel that the one who trusts God and is not prone to worry, is the one who can sleep in peace. But if one is a worrier and let's their minds not relax in peace because they are consumed with what lies ahead, will not be prone to sleep in peace.
Once again Matthew 6:33 is a reminder to not worry about things. Psalm 4:5 says to “offer right sacrifices and trust in God.” So Lord, help me live in accordance to your will. To walk in obedience to your Word. Then help me trust you so I don't have to be consumed with each day's events and can sleep in peace. Give me wisdom to handle the needs of each day so I don't worry.

There are too many times that I get anxious about too many things! God can give us the peace that we need if we will only trust in Him. We are so valuable to Him as we read about in Luke 12:22-25.
And He (Jesus) said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”
