Job Chapter 28. Are you a wise cracker?
Where can you find wisdom? Job talks about how you can go in the deepest part of the Earth and find great valuable jewels and rocks but where can you find wisdom? His conclusion is that only God understands wisdom and where it dwells. Therefore it is only through God that we can gain true wisdom and understanding. And Job concludes that the fear of the Lord is wisdom and to shun evil is understanding.
Below I listed several passages in the Bible that talk about how the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. I suggest you read them.
To fear God is to grasp a small understanding of who he is!
God is love and it goes deeper than we could ever understand or comprehend. It was shown through his son Jesus who gives us new life.
God is Holy and without sin and He desires for us to be holy. To fear God is to understand the value of being holy. It is to be motivated to pursue God with all our heart soul mind and strength. Then we want nothing more than Christ and Christ alone.
God is just therefore we get what we deserve. To understand God is to pursue Christ and we deserve New Life. But to reject God's wisdom is to reject Christ and we deserve hell or death.
To fear God is to pursue him with our life. It opens the door to His Holy Spirit who empowers us and gives us wisdom and understanding for life. This wisdom gives us life and helps us to overcome the evil in the world. It puts us on a straight path. It is not understood by evildoers. It is not grasped by those who walk without him. It is foolishness to their eyes and ears. When in fact the Scripture says the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God 1st Corinthians 3:18-19.
Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 8:13
The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.
Job 28:28
And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’”
Ecclesiastes 12:13
The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
Psalm 111:10
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
Proverbs 14:27
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.
Deuteronomy 10:12
“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul….

I was reminded of a couple other Bible passages today.
James 1:2-6
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
Matthew 7:24-27
“Everyone then who hears these words of Mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
