Keep up all the great comments!
Exodus chapter 15.
There was great singing and rejoicing after God delivered the people from the Egyptians. How do we celebrate answered prayers how do we celebrate God's blessings shown to us? Would God say I am a thankful person or thankless person? Help me Lord to be more aware of your blessings and answered prayers and help me be more thankful.
God tests us and allows us to face troubles in our lives. The Israelites were trapped by the Red Sea without any glimmer of hope yet God delivered them. They also went three days without water. Our bodies can't take much more than three days without water. At that point people can literally die of thirst. But God provided for them. As Christians we should not think that our lives will be a bed of roses. God will always test us as a means of helping us grow in our faith and trust and in our character. God does not promise us that we will never have bad times but he promises that he will always be with us through the tough times. I need to take Comfort in that thought.

I just want to emphasize again how much I appreciate your comments. Yesterday’s comments were all so uplifting and inspiring. I am very much enjoying doing this with each of you, and there are some doing this challenge who told me they don’t make comments so I thank them as well for being on board with us. Blessings to each of you. Don’t give up!!!
The song of Moses is the first song recorded in Scripture. It is also the last song recorded (Rev 15). God liked it so much that He mentions it 4 times in the Bible (also Psalm 118 and Isaiah 12). I can’t wait to hear it sung in heaven around the crystal sea with others who have been raptured. The Israelites weren’t just sing about the Lord, they sang to Him. And, that’s what our praise worship should always be!
God has shown His mighty power in various ways and He continued to provide whatever the Israelites needed as they began their journey in the wilderness. I’m reminded of how Jesus was abandoned by His followers during His journey to the cross, but He never abandons us when we take up our cross to follow Him! God doesn’t promise us that our journey will be easy, but He has promised to go with us. That makes all the difference!
The Song of Moses and Miriam
15 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord:
So the Israelites just witnessed their oppressors get swallowed up by the Lord….I’m just imagining how loud the singing was. It must have been pretty exciting
I’ve been to some sporting events and the crowd have been so loud you can’t hear the person next to you, and your body vibrates.
Then, again, trust issues 3 days without water (sounds like me sometimes)
I have a question.
In verse 27 do the 12 springs at Elim have any symbolism or connection to the 12 tribes of Israel?
God Bless everybody
Elam means “mighty ones”. Some scholars think the 12 springs point to the 12 disciples and the 70 palm trees point to the 70 that Jesus sent out in ministry. The palm tree is the only tree in the world which bears more fruit as it gets older. Could the Holy Spirit be telling us this to say that the place where we’ll find true refreshment is to be “mighty ones” in ministry (whichever ministry He has called us to).
I love that following the crossing of the red sea, moses and the Israelites break into songs of praise for what God did for them! Music can be so powerful and there is nothing that can change my mood faster than some good music!
I feel like the song the Israelites are singing finally solidifies they feel completely confident in the Lords power, and they will not think to turn back like they did when the Egyptians first marched towards them near the Red Sea. I do find it interesting that after their songs of praise and worship to the Lord, the Bible says they “grumbled” at Moses about needing water. Pastor Blair brings up a good point though, 3 days without water and any human will be starting to grumble! The Lord gives his mighty mercy to Moses and the Israelites again. Although water is an essential need in our lives this reading reminds me to stay thankful to the Lord. There are so many blessings He has given me, yet I have many “grumbling” moments where I lose sight of all that I’ve been blessed with. I pray that I can truly live out the mantra – too blessed to be stressed!! And quit my grumbling!!
