| Ezekiel Chapter 18. Three statements made very clear in this chapter: 1. The one who lives in sin is the one who will die for their sins. 2. The one who repents of their sins is the one who will live. 3. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. This chapter challenges the thoughts of those who hold on to Salvation because they “grew up in a Christian home”. Their Salvation is not based upon a committed relationship with Christ because it's based upon the fact that their parents were Christians. They grew up in a Christian home, went to church every Sunday, know the books of the Bible, they can quote John 3:16, and share the Salvation message with others. The problem is, they have all the head knowledge about Christianity but they've never made a heart commitment to follow the Lord Jesus. They are still living in their sins. This chapter reminds us that we can't live off the relationship of our parents. Our parents will be judged for their commitment. The question isn't were you raised in a Christian home? The question is did you ever repent of your sins and choose to surrender your life to Jesus? Are you living off your head knowledge of Jesus and not a heart commitment? Are you living in sin and still need to repent and stop the life of sin? Have you turned to a new life in Christ? God does not take any pleasure in the death of the wicked but it's our choice! He's waiting for us to make the right one! |
