| Ezekiel Chapter 17. Jesus, our established HOPE. God tells a parable using eagles and trees and fruit. He gives the meaning of the parable to the Israelites saying: The king of Babylon will go to Jerusalem and carry off the king and nobles back to Babylon. Babylon will make a treaty with one of the royal Family members. The Israelites will survive if they stay within the treaty. But one of the Israelites will try and overtake the Babylonians by calling on the Egyptians for help. God will cause harm to him and the Israelites for breaking the treaty and devising a plan to overtake Babylon. The Israelites will fall by the sword. In the last three verses God declares the day he will establish a strong tree, JESUS, that all other trees will bow down to. God's established tree will be the tree that all people can find shelter in. This is the Hope of Jesus Christ. Let us quit trying to find our pleasure and hopes in the world which are only temporary. Let us find our eternal hope in a surrendered relationship with Jesus. |
