| Jeremiah Chapter 51. I don't need God. I can do just fine without Him. God continues to prophesy against Babylon. God's first desire was to heal them but they would not turn from their sins. Babylon got trapped into thinking, “We don't need God we're doing just fine without him. We have our great nation. Other nations fear us. We have riches and great produce and great trade.” In the same way, it is easy for us to see our successes and think our successes are because of our own power and strength. We can easily push God out of areas of our lives and take glory and credit for our successes. Also, it is easy to slowly lose sight of the needy people around us because we're too busy building our own kingdom. Our desires and needs become more important than the needs of the widows or fatherless, or the hurting and neglected. Lord, may each day start with a desire for you to reign in my heart so I become ever so aware of my performance as a worker, but also aware of the needs around me. I want to be the best that I can be in whatever job or Ministry you give me. But I also want to be the best servant I can be for you in serving others and in preaching the Good News of Jesus. Help me I pray! Amen! |
