| Jeremiah Chapter 48. God doesn't show Favoritism. Once again God prophesies against another nation, Moab, rather than the Jews. God declares that Moab and all its cities will be utterly destroyed because they put trust, not in God, but in their own abilities and riches. They're full of pride and serve other gods. God's heart is broken for them and weeps for them. It's not his desire to see any perish but once again because of stubborn hearts, God has to allow discipline to occur with the goal for restoration with him. God declares that after they have suffered for a while, he will again restore them. Let's take note that God's love is for everyone. He doesn't wish that any would perish but for all to repent of sin. God's discipline occurs because of stubborn and prideful hearts that refuse to turn to the Lord for restoration. He doesn't show favoritism. His love is for all. His discipline goes to all who are walking away from him. Doesn't matter on your social status, or ethnic group, or how much money you make. His love is for all and strives to bring all to himself. Will we run from God so we can stay in control of our own lives or will we surrender our lives and escape his wrath and receive his love so we can serve him with our whole hearts? I don't care who you are: God loves you and desires your full allegiance. Are you running toward the Lord or running away from him? |
