| Jeremiah Chapter 42. I'll GO and DO whatever you want me to…HONEST! What's left of Judas army is a small group of men. They come to Jeremiah the prophet asking him to go before the Lord to find out where they are supposed to settle and what they are supposed to do. They speak eloquently and with godly words. They let Jeremiah know that they want to obey God no matter what he says. 10 days later, Jeremiah tells the men they are to stay in Judah (with all the rundown cities). If they obey God, then God will restore and rebuild their cities and protect them from their enemies. Jeremiah knew that the men wanted to go to Egypt where it would be safe and secure. But Jeremiah told them if they went to Egypt they would die because that's not where God wanted them. When it comes to our relationship with the Lord what is our true heart's desire? Can we say with total honesty that we truly will go and do what God wants of us? Do we really want to obey his calling? Or are we like the army men who said they wanted to obey but inside they wanted to go where they thought was best? God doesn't always send us to the glamorous looking places that look attractive with so called promising results. The army men wanted to go and settle in Egypt because it looked so much more attractive and safe, but if God is not in the plan, no matter how attractive it is, it will be a disaster. Where's your heart? Where is God calling you? Are you willing to go? Are you willing to serve? Maybe God is calling you to a new place or new location that will be glamorous! Maybe he's calling you to stay where you are because he wants to equip you, change you, and use you to impact lives for him and be a blessing where you are. Perhaps Where You Are has become your safe place or your Egypt, but God is calling you out to a new location where you can be stretched in your faith, be challenged and grow in New areas while being equipped and trained to better serve the Lord. Are you willing to go to that place that doesn't look glamorous but is the place where God will bless you and use you? All this is between you and the Lord. What are you going to do? |
