| Jeremiah chapter 36. How am I affected by the Gospel Message? God instructed Jeremiah to write down all the words on a scroll that he has ever prophesied against Judah and the surrounding Nations. Jeremiah spoke the words to Baruch who then wrote them down on the scroll. Then Baruch read them to the people of Judah and got different responses: The king's officials feared the disaster that awaited them from God because of their sins. They wanted the king to hear these words. The king of Judah and his attendants heard the words and thought they were foolish. The king burned the scroll and did not fear God nor the disaster that awaited him and his people because of their sins. Today, God desires the Gospel of Jesus to be shared to all the world so that they can find forgiveness of sins and eternal life through Christ. How do we react to the Gospel compared to how the people responded to God's word in Jeremiah? Are we like JEREMIAH who was a faithful servant willing to go and do and say whatever God wanted him to in sharing the Gospel regardless of the outcome? Or are we like BARUCH who was a faithful assistant to a faithful servant. Are we willing to come alongside the pastor or church in order to be used in Ministry in helping promote the Gospel? Or are we like the KING'S OFFICIALS in need of repentance of sins, recognizing our shortcomings and our need for Christ and his forgiveness? Do we fear the disaster that awaits us if we continue in our sins? Or are we like the KING and his ATTENDANTS that we are so captivated by the world and all its passions and desires that we ignore God's Gospel message and we show no fear for what awaits our rejection, and even speak of the Gospel as foolishness? Or do we relate with more than one of these groups of people? God, my prayer and desire is to give you my whole heart. Give me the strength and wisdom and knowledge to speak the Gospel wherever and whenever regardless of the outcome. Amen! |
