Jeremiah Chapter 34. Well, are you going to do it, or not?

During the time Jerusalem was in battle against Babylon, King Zedekiah of Judah gave orders for their slaves to be set free. It was a law from God given years ago that slaves were to serve 6 years and be set free on the 7th year. But Judah and Israel did not obey this law. So why now? Why was King Zedekiah concerned all of a sudden during the time of war? Perhaps he was feeling convicted by God's spirit. Perhaps he felt God would find favor with the people if they did it, and help them in their battle.
But after setting the slaves free, the people changed their minds and enslaved them again. They were disobedient to God and profaned his name.

What about us? Did you ever feel God called you to do something but then didn't do it, or you started it but changed your mind? Think of the blessings we miss when we are unfaithful to God's calling.
I was overseeing a Ministry called the FOUND FESTIVAL in 2008. It was when we brought in several performers with different skills, talents, and gifts. The people would entertain the audience then would share the Gospel. Through all the months of preparation, I could see we were not doing well financially and feared it would be unsuccessful. So I was ready to call it off before we ended up losing lots of money. We still needed over $30,000 and had only two and a half months to do it. I was ready to call the leadership team and tell them we were going to put it off until next year. As I went into prayer and read God's scriptures, I was led to a devotional that stated, when God called us to do something for him, don't quit.
Long story short: I said, okay God, we won't quit and we'll trust you through this. Sure enough, God supplied the money in miraculous ways. The event went on and lives were touched for the Lord. God's blessing was evident, but if we would have stopped then we would have missed a blessing from God.

What have you felt compelled by God to do? Are you going to do it? Did you start it and then quit? What excuses are you going to be make so you don't have to do it? More importantly, what blessings will you miss out on for not doing it?
