Jeremiah Chapter 22. I want people to love and respect me!
Again, Jeremiah speaks to the king of Judah and his officials and explains how they are to treat the people of their Nation. If they are unrighteous leaders, then they will not gain the respect of the people. In fact Jeremiah says a disrespectful King, when they die, no one will mourn their death and they will be buried like a worthless animal dragged away and left on the ground to rot.
You want to be loved and respected by others? Then love and respect them. Love and respect your spouse and you'll be loved and respected. Love and respect your boss and coworkers and you will be loved and respected. Love and respect your peers and you will be loved and respected by them. Love respect your neighbors and they will have a love and respect for you. Be a selfish, arrogant jerk and people will care less what happens to you. In fact they may even wish ill to fall upon you.
We need more love and respect in this world. We as Christians should be the role models of such love and respect!
Oh, I so agree with you, PB! Amen!! I think we as the Lord’s church need to stop and think about how our walk is seen by non-believers. Do we walk the walk we should; are we critical of sinners; do appear to think we are better than anyone else; do we really show His love so that others want to know our Lord and Savior too? Is our physical church welcoming to all regardless of their appearance. Lord, help us to be humble and be the salt and the light that you want us to be.
