Jeremiah Chapter 18. I don't look so good.
God told Jeremiah to go to The Potter's House then God would speak to him. The Potter was making a pot from clay. The pot was marred so he made it into another pot. God's message to Israel and Judah was just as a Potter has the free will to change what he has made, so God says, that if a nation he has built up does not repent of their sins, so will God tear down what he has started. But if the nation does repent then God will complete the work he started.
A lesson for us perhaps is that 1) God has created us to have a relationship with him through Jesus. 2) God has given us gifts which he wants to use through us at work and within the church. 3) God has created us for a purpose so that we can live for him and share the good news of Jesus with others. 4) God has created us to be holy vessels. Once we step outside his holiness, then we squelch the Holy Spirit so he no longer has Dominion in our hearts. Therefore he no longer is given the freedom to work in and through our lives as he desires. He's waiting for us to surrender our will for his will; to repent of our sins.
The good news, just as the Potter made a new pot, so will God do with us when we repent and surrender our will for his. He'll make us fresh and renewed so we can carry out his plan for our lives. So what needs to be repented from? Or what needs to be surrendered to the Lord? May we give God total freedom to make us what he wants so we can impact lives at home, work, and within the church.
