Jeremiah Chapter 17. Where do I put my confidence?
The prophet confronts Judah for their lack of trust in the Lord. God declares a curse upon those who don't trust him because they put their trust in man. God declares a blessing for those who put their trust and confidence in the Lord. This is a powerful statement. Being able to put one's trust and confidence in the Lord demonstrates a lot of faith. CONFIDENCE is a powerful word because it refuses to look at circumstances that act as obstacles to one's life or one's future. Imagine having a confidence, or trust, or faith that keeps one from worrying and fearing over one's life obstacles. God says to obtain such faith and confidence means one will blossom and bear fruit.
God, I look at my circumstances as I look for a new job / Ministry. Is there really something out there that will provide financially for my wife and I? One that will enable us to live in a house? One that will enable me to use my gifts for the Lord? It's hard for me to comprehend that something is out there that will provide our needs. But I'm not bound by sight or circumstances. I am bound by faith, trust, and confidence for my future. Hebrews 11:1 says it very well. “Now Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we cannot see.”
This is great, Lord, because I can't see how you can work this all out. What a perfect opportunity to live by faith so that we will see your Great and mighty hand at work and your name will be lifted up. Thank you Lord for opportunities to live by faith and thank you that your name will be lifted up.
