Jeremiah Chapter 13. Have I Lost Focus?
God spoke to Jeremiah three times. First: God told Jeremiah to buy a linen belt and wear it around his waist but don't let it get wet. Second: God told Jeremiah to hide his belt in a crevice in the rocks. Third: Days later God told Jeremiah to get the linen belt that was hidden. When Jeremiah got it, it was ruined and useless.
Israel and Judah were living a life without the Lord and God said they became useless before Him. If my life is not focused on the Lord but on me then my life becomes useless. I want to have a legacy for Jesus so if my life is focused on Jesus, I'll help point people to Jesus. I want my legacy to be, not that I was great, but that I helped people realize Jesus is great. If my focus is not on Jesus then it's on myself or it's on someone or something else which usually means it's for my benefit and not the benefit of God. So where is my focus?
If on the Lord Jesus then = a life with meaning.
If focused on anything but Jesus = a life of pride because Jesus is pushed out which = a useless life.
Re-establish your focus so Jesus gets praise and honor rather than giving him the cold shoulder.
