Isaiah chapter 66 it's time for our evaluation!
For those of you who are still following along this Bible Challenge, Praise the Lord as we have completed today another book of the Bible. Good job and keep being in the Word!
God declares in this chapter his desire to dwell in our lives. God wishes to dwell within the heart of those:
1) Who are HUMBLE in heart. Not prideful or arrogant. They recognize their need for the Lord and are concerned for those around them.
2) Who have a contrite heart. In other words, one who is broken over their sin and sorry for their sins. They desire to be holy and pure before God.
3) Who tremble at God's Word. This person recognizes that God's word is true and they must adhere to it. God's word is an expression of his love for us. His forgiveness for us. But also his wrath toward us if we choose a life without him. Those who live in sin and don't care, have no respect for God's word. They have no fear of the consequences of their sin so they are not motivated to change. Those who fear God's word are motivated to love and serve him over any pleasures found in this world.
In fact, God says for those who do not have the qualities mentioned above, yet do religious things, their Religious Acts are an abomination to him because their hearts are far from him.
It's time to evaluate our hearts and lives again. Do I have a humble heart? Do I have a broken and contrite heart? Do I tremble at God's word with utmost respect and love? Do I desire to serve him and him alone? What are my strengths and what are my weaknesses? Where do I need to change? Give it to the Lord so he can help you.
