Daily Bible Challenge: Day 732 Isaiah Chapter 53

by Blair Blakeslee | Feb 14, 2021 | Daily Bible Challenge | 0 comments

Isaiah chapter 53.  I'M UGLY!

Once again Isaiah foretells of the coming of Jesus. I want to focus on just verse 2.
“He grew up like a tender shoot, like a root out of dry ground.” This implies something that quickly shoots up but is underdeveloped. His appearance is described as having no Beauty (at least from human standards). Nothing in his appearance that we should desire him or be attracted to him.

How could Jesus, who lacked an attractive appearance, have thousands of people drawn to him?
Because Jesus showed love to them. Jesus gave hope and healing to people. He was humble and encouraged others.

I think most people, when they look in the mirror, see imperfections of themselves and often let those “imperfections” inhibit what God is wanting to do in their lives and through their lives. I'm no different. I don't feel that people are drawn to me because of my appearance. I can't say that I ever thought they were. But I can say this, when I spend time with people or speak at a youth camp, people are drawn to me because of the message they either hear or see. When people feel they are loved, valued, are important, or receive encouragement and Hope for their lives, they become drawn to the messenger. I've seen it over and over again, where I go to speak a week at a camp to youth. I'm an outsider to them but by the end of the week I have become their friend. Not because I'm so attractive on the outside but because Jesus's Love is attractive through me.

We have to stop looking in the mirror and letting Satan tear us down. Instead we have to see our own value and our own worth and our own Beauty. God made us. God wants to use us to bring the message of Love, Hope, and Healing to the Brokenhearted and Salvation to the Lost. Don't let anyone's perception of you dictate who you are. Let Christ's perception of you dictate who you are!
I can't express it enough, let us bring to people the message of Love, Hope, Healing, and Salvation!
