Isaiah chapter 44. Who is your god/God?
In this chapter, God speaks to his chosen people. The words he said can be words for us.
God says, Don't Be afraid. You feel hopeless, but I will bring life where death looks prevalent. We can look in the mirror and feel worthless but God wants to give us value, worth, and a purpose. He's very capable of transforming us into something that we thought we could never be.
God proclaims that he, and he alone, is God. Anything else we put our hope in is worthless so let's get rid of it.
God was frustrated how his people made idols from their hands and worshiped them as their god. How can that which is created be greater than its Creator?
I'm not just talking about idols made from wood. I'm talking about any created thing. We could end up worshiping certain relationships when we act like we can't live without someone. We become consumed with them to the point that our relationship with the Lord is severed or greatly hindered.
Some people struggle with addictions whether it be sports, drugs, alcohol, YouTube, videos games, politics, hobbies, etc. As a result it ends up hurting their relationship with the Lord.
We need the proper perspective: this chapter says, God created us and wants us to be his servants. When we have the proper perspective, we end up serving God and loving him with all our hearts, soul, mind and strength. This God's love ends up shining through us so that it results in us loving and serving others.
A lot of people want to be leaders, but let us lead like Jesus did, he loved others and served others as an example for others to follow. Who is our God? Who are we serving? How are we serving others?
