Isaiah chapter 39. Be careful!
Be careful! Let us not forget I Peter 5:8 that says to be alert and resist the devil because he's like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
King Hezekiah was not careful. God just extended 15 years to his life after King Hezekiah became humble before God and broken. Being prideful was obviously a problem that King Hezekiah had.
No sooner is he told that he has 15 years extended to his life, that he turns around and out of pride shows his enemy all his precious belongings, kind of like showing off. Pride crept back in and God declares his punishment that will occur in due time.
What about us? What are we working on that we handed over to God for help? We've acknowledged our sin to him but we have not been careful and we find ourselves falling into temptation again. We find ourselves repeating the same sin over and over again. We thought we had taken care of it.
The addiction we put behind us, the lust we said we'd not dwell on, or the foul mouth we said we'd quit using, or the anger outbursts we said we'd surrender and get control of, or the alcohol we said we'd quit drinking, or the friends we said we'd not let ourselves be tempted by, and then all of a sudden, we find ourselves falling back into sin.
Guess what? There is still forgiveness. Confess the repeated sin and repent from it as often as you must until, by God's grace, you have victory over it.  Or until you are able to recognize the temptation that sets you up to the repeated sin and are able to run away from it.
Never give up! Giving up is easy to do if you keep failing but God's compassion is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). And his forgiveness is always available and His Love Never ends.
