Isaiah Chapter 31. Trust God. Trust God. Trust God.
This chapter says WOE to those who trust Egypt for help and rely on their horses, their chariots, and their horsemen, rather than seeking the Lord.
This chapter reminds me of Psalm 20:7. It says, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”
Today, we live in a world where we feel if we just had a little bit more money we'd be happy. If I could just hit the lottery, I'd be happy. Or else, we have the attitude of My success is contingent upon my dreams and how I pursue them. I'll work hard and pursue my dreams and I'll be successful and I'll be this and I'll be that!
Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong in wanting to move up the corporate ladder and make more money. In fact, I believe God wants to bless people with more money, not so they can spend it all on self, but so they can be a blessing to others. We approach money with the wrong attitude. We think, God bless me with more money for me, me, me. When our attitude should be, God bless me so I can be a blessing to the church and to others. We can have this attitude if we learn contentment in life.
Also, there's nothing wrong with pursuing dreams and working hard to get them. In fact, I love a hard worker who's motivated. The problem is, whose dream are we seeking? My dreams or God's dreams? There's the problem, when we pursue our dreams we leave out the Lord and put trust in self. When we pursue God's dreams, we learn to trust God in order to help us reach the dreams. When we trust God, we often find that he shuts doors that we want and opens the doors that will be even better than any doors we could have ever pursued.
Trust God. Trust God. Trust God. He'll help us financially and he'll help us pursue the dreams he has for us.
